Ndingo Johwa aka Satjilombe is celebrated as a national treasure of his homeland Botswana from his iconic musical achievements and as a familiar household name.

Ndingo’s career took off when he released his debut folk album called ‘Phondayana’ which received critical success. From there Ndingo released eight studio albums and has packed music festivals and concerts with huge audiences establishing himself as a household name in his beloved Botswana and the wider Southern African region. He has continued to mesmerise audiences with his electrifying performances of Ikalanga folk music which he has dubbed “Ikajazz” with his 6-8 piece band which includes the stunning traditional dance and harmonic vocals of Chedza and Kwedu as well as guitar, bass, drums, keys and percussion.

 

Ndigo developed interest in music from a young age when he began singing in church choirs as a baritone, then teaching himself to play guitar using a guitar made from old tins cans. He gained experience as he pursued a career in music joining other renowned Southern African musicians in various bands.

Ndingo has performed at various international festivals including headlining Domboshaba Culture Festival in Botswana, Grahamstown Arts Festival SA, Kumbule Khaya SA, then Leswingo & Maswingo in Zimbabwe, Son of the Soil Arts Festival in Botswana. He has performed at 100’s of local festivals and over 25 International Festivals including:
